Elders are an essential component in the governmental body of the church.  In concert with the active oversight of the Bishop and Pastor, it is the Elder’s unique responsibility to assist with equipping of the saints, doing the work of ministry, and edifying the body at large (Ephesian 4:11-13).  An Elder in the local body is an extension of the Bishop and the Pastor.
